OUR TEAM

All BASE Psychology clinicians are registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board and have a minimum of 10 years of experience.  Individual clinicians are registered under the clinical psychology scope of practice.  In addition, those conducting neuropsychological assessments are registered under the neuropsychology scope of practice.  Each clinician is also a member of either the New Zealand Psychological Society and Institute of Clinical Psychology or the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.  

KEITH WOODS

Director / Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Keith gained his Master of Science in Psychology (First Class Honours) and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology from the University of Auckland and has been practising as a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist since 1999.  He has worked in New Zealand and England and has extensive experience in the field of Neuropsychology, specialising in traumatic brain injury.   He has a particular interest in the recovery process following mild traumatic brain injury.  Keith also conducts neuropsychological assessments for individuals with suspected occupational solvent neurotoxicity, stroke, spinal cord injuries and other health related conditions that may impact cognitive functioning. Keith also completes clinical psychology assessments and treatment for individuals recovering from physical injury. This includes supporting people in their recovery and adjustment from brain injury, spinal injury or other physical injuries. In addition, he works with individuals with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.  He also works with whanau, caregivers and organisations to support them in assisting individuals in their recoveries. Keith incorporates a range of practical therapy tools to assist with the here and now and uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework to assist individuals towards meaningful change in their lives.  Keith also provides professional supervision to neuropsychologists and psychologists.

DR SASHA BRUNEAU-HERMAN

Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Sasha is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in Auckland and the USA specialising in the area of neuropsychology and physical injury rehabilitation and recovery. She has experience in conducting neuropsychological assessments for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury and provides psychological therapy to support adjustment.

DR CHRISTINA ILSE

Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Christina completed a PhD in Psychology in 2003 and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2004, from the University of Auckland. Christina has worked in worked in Mental Health Services for Older Adults at Counties Manukau and Auckland DHB and continues to work at the Dementia Prevention Research Clinic. Christina completes neuropsychological assessments with Base Psychology and has extensive experience in working with individuals with traumatic brain injury. Christina also has experience in working with for clients with age-related memory difficulties including those affected by dementias such including Alzheimer’s Dementia, Vascular Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia, and Lewy Body Dementia.

YVONNE PROSEE-DIXON

Clinical
Psychologist

Yvonne is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Master of Science in Psychology (First Class Honours) and a Post Graduate Degree in Counselling. She has over 30 years experience as a clinician working in the field of disability (this includes acquired and traumatic brain injury, physical disability and intellectual disability). Yvonne works primarily with individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, and their families. She assists people to develop coping skills, manage mood-related difficulties and make psychological adjustments to living with a brain injury. She is particularly interested in working alongside individuals with communication difficulties and enjoys couple and family therapy.

MICHAEL WILLIAMS

Clinical
Psychologist

Michael completed his Master of Science in Psychology (First Class Honours) and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology at the University of Auckland. He became registered as a psychologist in 1999. Michael has worked in a variety of settings including public mental health services, private practice, and Non-Governmental Organisations. In addition he has several years’ experience as the clinical director and a director of operations for a large NGO. He has specialist experience working with adults who have experienced psychological and physical trauma. He also has experience with evidence based interventions for adolescents and families to address complex behaviour problems. Michael is currently completing mental injury assessments and providing psychological interventions for people who have suffered traumatic experiences or lost physical functioning due to an accident or injury. Michael also has an interest in adult ADHD, mood difficulties, post trauma nightmares, anxiety, and difficulties with adjustment to health losses due to injury or illness. He also offers psychological support for people in managerial or leadership roles struggling with burnout, stress or other occupation-related difficulties.
